Hi, I have an 8N with an old superior trip FEL which runs off of the internal hydraulics. You guys know that I have to chain down the 3pt and am not able to use anything else on the 3pt while using my loader. Would the Zane Thang solve this problem or do I need a front hydraulic pump. I am new to the 8N world but I"m enjoying learning from you all. Thanks very much, Dave

Anyone have pictures of a front pump assembly mounted on the tractor we can use for reference?

If your going with the front pump count on ~$700 fir parts. This includes 3 D.A. cylinders, pump, mount, stinger shaft, pulley & hub, 2 spool valve w/float, hoses and fittings. Its an expensive little endeavor that I just recieved my parts for. I think itll be worth it to not have to chain the lift.

You can still get all the parts. The main part you will need is the front mount that the pump sets on and bolts to the axle support. They are not avalible and you would have to make it.

Hey Dave,
The Zane Thang wouldn't solve your problem, but the Zane Live Thang would. The Live Thang adds live hydraulics to your 3-pt lift. And, you can route the pressure line through a spool valve to control your FEL independant of the rear lift. The Live Thang isn't as strong and fast as a front mounted stringer pump, but you don't have to permenently alter the tractor to use it. And, you get a live lift as a side benefit. I recently added one to my '51 8N and I love it.

John, when you say I would have to premantly alter to use the front pump what are you refering to? I have seen other 8N's with the front pump and they have the grill off, is that what you meant?

Thanks again, I really appreciate it, Dave

You can also get an aftermarket grill for $30-$50 on ebay to cut the hole in & use when the front pump is mounted.

The usual way was to cut a hole in the grill. I
don't think you'd want to do that any more. I would make a grill out of expanded metal or some
thing similar rather than cutting the grill. Use
temp grill while pump is on. I know some loaders have a grill on them that cover the front quite
well so this would not be needed.
