I alread had the 3 1/2" OB kit in the Old Warrior, so I chose to use my existing sleeves; they looked new, no ridge and mic'ed correctly. Pistons also looked new, cleaned up and checked out well. I kept the new rings from the 3 1/2" OB kit, and sent back the sleeves and pistons for credit. Now that I am ready to install the pistons, I'm checking clearances and finding 020 to 025, which is a bit fat for the book specs of 010 to 020. I wonder if I blew it by sending back the rest of the kit, do I need to get back the sleeves and replace them? Has anybody perhaps got a kit on hand to check the ring gap clearances for me, please? I would be very grateful, may even let you sit on the finished product and make put-put noises!

The ring gap should be .010 to .020 per the FO-19.

My new .020 oversized rings were .010 end gap on the money in the .020 bored sleeves. No file fitting was necessary.

Don't forget to check the side clearance in the rings also (up & down vertically). That clearence is a lot tighter, like .003. HTH. Rick H. GA.
