My neighbor stopped his leak w/ two gaskets & silicone sealer. Remember the first rule of governor repair: shorT bolT on Top!!

Please elaborate on the short bolt on top thing. I have my gov rebuilt and ready for install, and don't remember a short bolt.

But I'm getting old...

Dell, I'm sorry to be a knothead, but I'm still not seeing it. I have an early gov cover, two parts, engine front cover and separate gov cover. My gov cover has five 5/16 bolts, all same length. Are we talking my engine front cover maybe?

Ramrod..... ...as far as I know, the 4-cyl flathead N-Governor's cup (p/n 18185) is held on by only 2-bolts, short bolt (p/n 43514-S8, 3/8-16x1) in the "top-hole"; longer bolt (p/n 355575-S7, 3/8-16x1-3/4) in the bottom governor cup hole..... ...Dell
