Antifreeze Leak on 9N

It appears my 9N has an antifreeze leak on the left side of the motor from behind the starter. Dry above the starter and very wet below. Does the starter motor attach near coolant on the block? (The drain plug area on left side of motor is dry) Any ideas what I can check/tighten/replace?

Thanks!

mine is an 8N, so "your mileage may vary", but my freeze plug is to the left of the starter motor, not behind it, it's easy to see. My adventure was, in trying to remove the bad old starter motor, it was stuck in there REAL GOOD, and with all the banging and such, when it was all back together, I had a small leak from right behind the starter motor. Turned out to be a hole in the block, my tractor guy did some kind of "glass pack" job on it, and it has been fine since.

I posted on Friday and never found the posting or any responses, thus the re-post.

What is a welch plug and where is it used?

Also called a freeze plug.

I'm surprised you couldn't find the replies.. you had about 4 of them. Do you select email notification of replies? It helps find the posts a tad easier.

Anyway.. the plug is a small thin metal cup.. I don't have a manual in front of me so i cant quote size. If it leaks you can usually knock them out with a chissle or screwdriver to the middle of them.. bend and remove.. just get another one from ?napa? and pop it in. Might have to scrape some paint and rust off the mating surface.. or use some sealer if it is pitted.. etc.

Should be right behind the starter.

Thanks for info on freeze plug.

I looked back further in time and realized the problem. I posted around 9:00 am on Friday. However, the posting has a time stamp around 5:00 am Friday...I did not scroll back that far in time. Must be confused by the time zone thing.
