I am going to look at a Ford 8N Saturday add says runs good Stuck clutch. I thought I read a number of posts about 4 months ago on how to unstick the clutch. Can someone help me with information?

No need to remove the front end at all.

Put something under the oil pan like a small bottle jack or small floor jack and then hook a chain hoist to the center of the steering wheel, Support the clutch housing with a floor jack that can be rolled back with the rear of the tractor. Remove the bolts from the steering box where it is bolted to the clutch housing. Remove the bolts from around the Engine to clutch housing. Take up on the chain hoist at the steering wheel to support the hood and steering column and if everything is loose roll the rear back till the pilot shaft is clear of the clutch disc and let the clutch housing down enough to get by the steering box and then roll it all the way back till you have room to remove the pressure plate.

I have many times been able to unstuck a clutch by tying the clutch pedal down and then getting it out on the road in fourth gear and jumping up and down on one or the other brake. You can start it in gear by shorting the starter solenoid small wire to ground while in the seat and ready to go in a direction that you will not be likely to run into something.
You will need to do some truck driver gear shifting to get it into high gear but it can be done by manipulating the throttle on a level road while shifting. Don’t force the shifter though. If you can’t get it back into high gear let it come to a halt and start again. You don’t’ want to add insult to injury by breaking something in the transmission.

There are a number of ways to do that. One is to start it in gear and hold the pedel down but you have to be very careful doing so. Another is to tie the pedel down and jack up the tractor and pull on the tire that is up back and forth with the tractor in gear. Also if your lucky you can start the tractor, idle it down just as low as it will go and some times you can get it in gear and then just drive it around, hitting the brakes till it pops loose. Then after its brakes free keep a cement block on the pedel when your not useing it.

I think it was to press the clutch pedal down for a few days. The springs on the clutch plate then might cause the plate to pop loose.

What I did on 2N was start it in gear in an open field and just give it gas. I had a C-clamp holding the clutch pedal down. Went about ten feet and pop, the clutch disengaged. I should mention I clamped the pedal for about 2 weeks prior to starting it. Hope this helps. rob
