started having fuel feed problems thru carb and suspect water/debris clogging inlet into float bowl. I took it apart, cleaned and blew it out and put it back on, but fuel started free flowing out the back of the carb as soon as fuel line was hooked up. I assumed stuck float so took it apart again and checked everything out. put it back on and all seemed ok. Tractor started right up and ran for about 10 minutes and stopped again. I"m sure I need to do a better job of cleaning out the junk now in the carb. any other ideas? Alos, I woule really like the initial settings for the thumbscrew needle setting on the inlet side as weel as the initial starting point setting for the other smaller slotted needle adjustment. by the way this is on a tentatively identified 1953 8N . any help appreciated

1952 8n---1953 Jubilee/NAA

Both used MS carbs.. but different models of carbs.

On the MS tsx33 or tsx 241 variants, the main needlestart at 1 turn out, and try it 1/8 turn increments ( out ) to check for leanness.. I have mine at 1.5 turns out.

Side pointing idlemix I have set at 3/8 turn.. keep in mind in to enrich.. out to lean on the idlejet.

Rogers..... ..what sounder sez..... .and.....

Much to the dismay of EPA Bureaucrats, all carbs need idlemixture adjustment. Our M/S carbs are somewhat unique in that the mainjet is also adjustable. BUT surprizingly enuff, all non-smog carb idlemixtures adjust the sameway ...maximum rpms... (or highest vacuum, same thing) NOT smoothest rpms, MAX rpms. ok? Remember, the M/S sidepointing idlemixture is BASSAKWARDS, out for lean, IN for INRICH..... ....Dell
