I have a chance to pick up a Dearborn 2 bottom plow for $295. I have not seen it, but represented to be in good shape. Fair price???

I got mine for free.....well, I had to buy the place it was sitting on with the cottonwood tree growing up around it, but no extra charge for the implement. I hooked onto it with a sturdy chain and with a couple of hefty tugs yanked it out of the wood. It is a Dearborn 10-1 and seems to be complete except that one of the moldbords needs some work. Can replacement parts be found??

Hey Randy-
Well, three years ago the average price in the Thumb area anyway was from $150.00-$250.00 for a Dearborn plow no matter which model. Due to the popularity, reliability, and collectability (?) of these items, prices have risen slightly. Which model di d you get? Does it have the coulters, jointers, tail wheel, and original moldboards? The model number is on the tag. Also so is the serial number but I've found it doesn't really mean anything unless it is one to four digits. Post a picture if you are unsure. You can find deals out there if you hunt. I'm in Lapeer County, where are you?

I paid 195$ for a dearborn 10-1 2-bottom plow last year. It was missing coulters, and was rusty, but solid. I wire wheeled it down, replaced some nuts and bolts and other misc hardware, primed and painted it. Decent plow.

Randy, I sold a Ferguson 2 bottom moldboard turning plow back in the spring for $250. It was in good condition but did not have the coulters(sp?). HTH. Rick H. Ga.

It's not out of line here in the upper midwest from what I have seen.

That is a good price, but not a great price. If it had all the coulters and joiners I would snatch it up, they are getting harder to find.

Good luck,
Dan
