Bet you read this one looking for free beer?

Not exactly. Just wondering what some of us drink when were done for the day or working on the N's.

...and have any of us lied to our wives that we were 'working' on the N while were were drinking in the barn with our buddies?

Guilty as charged here...she want's the old fridge out of the barn...if that happens I still got the spring fed brook outside to cool the beers. :)

The fact is I never used "to work on the dammed tractor" as an excuse to drink beer My tractor needed alot of work regularly and drinking a lot of beer helped out.

I must admit I indulge in the odd one out in the shop where I can't be seen. My bevy of choice here in southwestern Ontario is Sleeman Cream Ale, brewed in Guelph. Nothing like it.

Better than anything you can buy - belgian, india pale ale, stout, what have you... Less than a week before I move into my new place in the hills, pick up my 8N, and get that homebrew going. Can't wait!

If there are any oldtimers from around Iowa (I'm also told it was popular in Oklahoma and parts of Texas) in the early '50's, my family owned a brewrey and brewed a beer with the family name. Also was brewed under Zollers and Blackhawk.

FWIW (Quite a bit if you are a beer can collector).

Up here in Western Canada, I enjoy Molson Dry or Labbatt's Lite. Have been known to sip on dry red wine(Home made). I never had to lie about drinking with my buddies in the shop, guess I need new buddies as any of them that show up don't share my enthusiasm and usually disappear when I try to get them to wash 50 years of grime from my 8n parts!! I have a healthy respect for machinery and stay away from the lathe etc if I am enjoying refreshments. Many women don't seem to realize the therepeutic benefits of working on old tractors and stoping once in a while to tip the elbow even if it is for a swallow of coffee, tea, tequilla or beer etc. My wife won't bring me beers but that is a worthy goal to strive for!!

But then again; "never say never." Actually, my wife is very supportive of my N addiction, and whenever we talk tractor parts, she always interrupts before we talk and says: "honey, can I get you a beer?" and then, with a wink and smile, and handing me my favorite tall glass well chilled in the freezer she wants to know everything I know and have learned about tractors and parts since the last time we talked. She is very eager to know and learn as I am.

We drink everything but Coors Light. -9N'er

Married 4 months, obsessed with my 2N 2 months.

Lifelong fan of beer. I prefer Guiness, but for daiy maintenance I chose to go with Bud Lite (my wife's brand)

As a safety precaution I dont indulge if the tractor is running, or start the tractor if I've indulged. Not preaching, I'm respect my Ford and its ability to kill me.

I knew an excavator who had taken their old household refrigerator and rigged it for holding a keg. This frige sat under the covered porch attached to his garage. It had a tapper in the side and was rigged with CO2 so he never had to pump it by hand. It was a real professional job, of course he liked his beer a lot.

However, after a long wrestling session with the 2N, I keep a stash of Georgia Winery Muskedine Wine on hand. This stuff tastes like kool-aid and has the kick of moon-shine. Being able to get this stuff is one of the perks of having a wife from Atlanta.

Of course, with St.Patrick's day comming up, I will have my yearly pint of Guiness. It is sort of an annual oil change.

Bottom's Up!

Sal, I have a very generous definition of 'working' on the N, which includes sitting on park bench in the shop (or is that a shop bench)reading some tractor literature and sippin' on a MOOSEHEAD...I also have to keep a few Labatt '50s close by for when my neighbour stops over to discuss the state of the world with me.....Brian.
