draw bar question

OK, I think I have the tough stuff like the clutch, starter motor, etc., straightened out and now on to some more fun things.

My 3-point hitch seems to be OK, but I think I need one of those draw bar things for pulling things. Here on ytmag they list "Swinging Drawbar Assembly - Drawbar And Hanger Assembly For 8N, NAA, 600 series. Complete kit includes drawbar, hanger and clevis assembly."

Now under my PTO, I think I must already have the "hanger" thing, but whatever hookup I have, it doesn't include clevis. What there is is a bracket and a very large pin, one inch or bigger in diameter, maybe 3, 4 inches long. If I push up into it feels like spring loaded thing, and turn, I can then remove the pin. So it would seem that's how I would connect to something I wanted to pull. So is that what the drawbar connects to or what is it that I have ?

Charlie, I have a drawing of the original DMC drawbar. If you are a fabricator and welder you can make the drawbar. Contact me if you would like the drawing. Philip.

Is this piece w/ the clevis pin close to the PTO housing or does it set back right under the rear end differential?

I ask because there are two types. The older type is near the edge of the housing just below the PTO. I looks like the one on the right below:

third party image

The one on the left is as the one that people seem to be talking about. It is the more "modern" version and much more versatile.

If you have the one on the right, this is the older style. A drawbar was hooked to this clevis and mounted to the cross draw bar that goes between the lift arms. This draw bar I think is rare but you could have one machined.

I hope this helps!
Patrick

THANK YOU ! That clears up part of the mystery, I most definitely have the one on the RIGHT. I still have the question, if I buy a drawbar, do they have a hole "standard size", same as the size of the pin of the unit on the right in your photo ?

I do not know if you can find a draw bar to go with the one on the right. I have never seen one except in a picture. Maybe Dell knows. You could have one machined... should not be that hard except for having the bends put it to bring it to the correct level.

The hole pattern of both units are the same. So, I would switch to the newer type (one on the left) and buy the whole kit (like someone posted here) for about $100.

Hope that answers your question!
Patrick

Charlie..... ...yep, that push'em-up pin, its what connects the swinging drawbar to the bottom of your 8N tractors differential. 9N/2N's don't have it.

Just buy a replacement swinging drawbar, you'll figger it out.

I've got 2, one with crank-up to whack my kneecap and hold a trailerball hitch; and one with crank-low to crack my ankle and pull some disc-harrows and spike-harrows..... ....Dell

I have lost my pin referred to as a "push"em-up pin" on my 8N drawbar clevis assembly. Any idea where I can find one (without paying an arm and leg) or get measurements so I can get one made.

WATER FLOWS THRU A PIPE;;;;;;;;

Lets call the wall of the pipe resistance to the water flow. The resistence will be knows as OHMS.

The pressure of the flowing water will be known as VOLTS.

The quantity of water flowing thru the pipe shall known as AMPS.

Therefore, Volts (V) times (x) AMPS (A) = WATTS. \\
Therefore for each 100 watt light bulb, operating on 120 volts,(AC) will generate approx 1.2 Amps of CURRENT.

Guess what, my 12v. dc. BILGE pump has now become my PRIMARY sump pump for my residence in PA. Becuase, the utility lines along the roads a 'bout worn out!

gott that right in reply to Hey, Dell..OT....John,PA, 11-06-2004 22:01:43
John..... ..yep, power is as simple as PIE. Power (watts) = E (volts) x I (amps).

Except in AC circuits where its P=I^2xR (sumptin about the angle of the dangle between I sine and E sine, can't remember 'zackly, but its called "power factor"). I don't worry about it 'cuz PIE are round and cake are square, and its usually close enuff.

Bilges and sumps smell the same to me (grin)..... ...Dell

I've been us'n my BILGE pump as my volt meter, 2-LONG. gOT TIRED hold'n in the "push-to-TEST" buttoms. Later. John,PA

Any how, I calculated that the bildge pump will run for LONG-Enough till "they" fix the utilities.

Yes, I had seen it. Maybe if it the photo of the part with the pin was at a different angle I could see better if it was like what I have. But that leaves the other piece in the photo, which I don't understand from looking at it how it works. I think I just need the bar.

unless that bracket and pin constitutes a very large clevis, I guess it is...
