Well, folks I finally got her running. I farmed out the getting it running process to a mechanic who does this full time. I will probably be put into a second class or worse here, because of my having done this. I decided that I just couldn't or didn't want to go through the whole process to get it running. I have spent 40 years fixing all kinds of mechanical problems, but one thing I never liked to do was to get in over my head. I did many odd repair jobs, learn as you go, over the years. It wasn't that I wasn't capable of doing it I just learned that I should farm out projects that were too big for me to attempt. This was one of them. The tractor is now running. The mechanic had to work hard to get the compression back up to +110#'s. I believe it was the valves that was causing the problem. The next thing was the oil pressure. I tried every recommendation that was on this board. The mechanic finally took it off and put the pump in an oil bucket and put the drill to it. Still no pressure. The pump, he said, looked perfect, but got a new one anyway. He installed it and varoom, started pumping oil right off. He is going to fix the brakes and check for seal leaks. I don't think there is but you never know. I asked him how it ran and he said really nice. A little problem with the carb. I rebuilt the carb and told him that I didn't think the rubber washer on the butterfly shaft was installed correctly and their could also be some dirt that I over looked. I'll fix that again. He felt the hydraulics and radiator were going to be ok. That's good news to hear. I originally told him that I didn't want to put more than $500.00 in labor. I haven't heard any differently. The gas tank will be about $220.00, much higher than elsewhere, but I'm satisfied and that's all that matters. On the low side it should cost about $800.00. To get it running. When I get it back I'm going to paint it. I've decided to keep it simple and avoid hardeners and the like. I'm going to roller and rattle can it. I haven't decided on the tires yet. This is not going to be a working tractor. I'll have to check out the tire thing later. I had Cal Chlor in the tires, thus I'm prepared to get the rims fixed. My dearborn back blade is totally rusted but I'm going to salvage it. It belongs with the tractor so I'm going to replace the skin and cutting bar and give it a good paint job. I have a little work to do on the hood, small gouge, Then I'll Bondo it. When I get photos, I'll post them.

Sorry about the long post. I have great respect and admiration for you fella's here, that are able to do it all themselves.

Hi Paul, glad to hear you got it running. Don"t feel bad about hiring a mechanic to help you out. There is nothing wrong with that if you"ve got the money.

Yes, C. I am proud of her. Looking forward to the rest of the work that needs done.

Foot is coming along, doesn't hurt all the time now. Was able to mulch the leaves on riding tractor. Did a lot of one foot hoppin. I think I would be pretty good in a kickin contest.

Paul
