November 6, 2004 I was moving the tractor this morning, after warming it up, and heard a “clunk”. I thought it was just the blade on the 3pt hitch shifting. Nope, as soon as I backed the tractor up to drop the blade I saw a small stream of radiator fluid. Shut it down immediately and saw the fan and pulley assembly had come off the shaft somehow, and flew into the radiator. It looks like to me I'll need a new radiator, I'm not sure what else. I'll take any advise I can get. Still can't quite figure out why the fan and pulleys came off the shaft? Pictures on the web space below:

Can't help you much on your fan and radiator problem. But I was reading how you and John are from the Ypsi area. I was just wondering if you were any relationship to Connie Bradshaw, I went to school with her. We attended Calvery Christian. But I was thinking she was from Belleville. That is where I am from.
Just curious.
Tom Adkins.

Tom, I don't know Connie. I was born in Ypsi and now live in the township but, from 1950 to 1984 I had Belleville addresses and we raise our kids there. They attended Lincoln Schools. We (my father and I) farmed land in both Washtenaw and Wayne counties until the mid '60s. Yup, Rawsonville Road.

No don't know her.
Was a pretty big school for that time. Went from a class of 32 to a class of 1032, Big change for me.

Good luck on the radiator. Was that an 12v conv. I am wondering if the alt and pully was putting a side load on the fan pully to make it do that or if it was just a bad water pump pulley?

See ya Tom Adkins.

Randy, that is one tough breakdown. I've never seen a water pump on an N do that, but then again, I'm not working on them everyday. I may have a useable radiator in the barn, if you are interested. Send me an e-mail at smateavp@msn.com

Barnstormer,
Wow, thanks for the offer. I may take you up on it. My shop foreman suggested taking it down to A&B Raditor, just down the road from us, for a estimate on a rebuild. I noticed that your from Ypsilanti. I grew up on George Street in Ypsi., in the Nancy Park subdivision (I-94 was in our back yard). I now live in Manchester (25 miles southwest of AA). Thanks again, I’ll get back to you as things progress.

New radiators can be had for about $140. This one was in a tractor that caught on fire. I have not tested it. Actually, I'm in the SW corner of the township, one mile east of US 23 and three miles south of I-94. 14 beautiful acres with the access to the city that my wife craves (I was lucky to get her this far out). Being close to retirment, we are listing 8 acres for sale very soon. That way, we can spend the money rather than leave it for the kids! John

Then you know Munger Road. I'm one half mile south of Merritt. Yup, growing like crazy. We may decide to sell out all together, but if we do, we will go at least as far west as the Marshall area or south, out of Michigan. My wife's brother and sister-in-law winter in southern Texas and I have two sisters and in-laws who live in New Braunfels (north of San Antonio), Texas.

Be glad to have you down here in Texas. I've got an RV park in Oyster Creek. We are starting to get quite a few 'Winter Texans'. Wer're about 4 miles from the beach at Surfside and 55 miles from Houston. That's as close as I care to get.
