My daughter just bought a home on four+ mowable acres. It is about 1 1/4 miles away and I was hoping to use my '51 8N at both locations.I am looking for suggestions on how to fabricate a mounting bracket for the Slow Moving Vehicle Triangle so as to be legal when driving back and forth on the County Road. All replys appreciated!

My 2N had a 1/4" thick, 1" wide piece of twisted bar stock bolted to the rear of the left fender. It was twisted in the middle so that it mounted flat to the inside fender wall while remaining flat at the top to the rear of the tractor. SMV sign works well there.

If an implement is on it isn't obstructed, and the sign is visible to the driver of the vehicle behind me.

I don't get my tractor out on the road much any more, but do have a SMV sign on it for when I do. I bought a license plate bracket #13406, mounted it above my tail light and bolted the SMV to it. Makes a nice mounting location, but does sick up quite high (making visibility good) but not so good when mowing under low hanging branches.

We welded a rod and mounting plate to a pair of vise-grips. That way you can snap the vise-grips onto any piece of equiptment you happen to be using. Then remove it when you get to farm.

bend a piece of strap iron and drill two holes to mount it under the bolts that hold the seat mounting strap to the rear end

For my Dad's 640, I made an "L" shaped bracket out of stainless steel and sandwiched it between the lift cover and seat bracket just as bj/8N/mt said. It's never been in the way of anything and low enough not to get snagged on anything.

Ya can't see the bracket, but you get the idea.

My SMV sign has ridden at least 200 miles with no problems simply by wedging the holding bracket from Farm and Country or TSC into the three-hole (after 1947) "rocker" where we pin the top link. However, I'm strongly considering having that little holding bracket tack welded to the back side of the rocker . Legally, the correct place is in the middle of the tractor or implement, but I like the license-bracket idea posted here a lot. Mike

your way should work fine if you don't travel with implements on the three point
