My 8N frontmount has been sitting for about 2 months.Running good when parked.Always cranked quick.I got on it this week and would not fire.Getting gas ok.I thought it must be points so went and got a set and installed them.with condenser.Still no fire to plugs.Since it was running good when parked I kinda ruled out coil.It shows fire to coil but when coil wire touches coil with switch on a small blue arc occures which I assume is normal. When the coil wire is installed it shows no fire at coil.IS somthing shorted out inside the dist.Hope this is enough info. What do I need to check. Thanks R.M. Your new points may be shorting inside distributor. I would start with that then new plugs, new coil.

It"s been pretty wet around here the last few days, with lot"s of rain. My 9N wouldn"t start, and after much troubleshooting, I finally figured out that it was condensation inside the dist. cap. Paper towels fixed it, and it started right up again.
