I'm working to restore the tractor my boss drove as a kid on the family farm. It is a '49 ford 8N. all in all its been pretty easy to deal with. My Question however is This thing came to me with 12" x 24" wheels and 13.9 x 24 armstrong tires. My boss tells me these are the same tires and wheels as when he was a kid and wants(read demands) this tire and wheel size retained. My problem is these wheels are Junk!!! Anyone know what they would have originally fit?? or where I could get replacements. Thanks, Ray

As you can see, a few other people have a few different sizes of 24" rims. My NAA has some nice 16.9x24 rear turf tires, and as you know, that center will fit on an 8n too. I have no idea where these heavy cast centers came from.

I looked in my Ford thousand series manual for the three cylinder models. They show a 12 - 24 rim with a 13.6 x 24 - 4 ply tire. The bolt pattern is the same since I used the unloaded tires off my 8N to put on the 3000 I bought and trailered over the mountain. The tires on the 3000 were loaded, and VERY heavy!! - more than my trailer was rated for.

I added a post from Jim.UT that has the two tire companies most refered to here on the board as good places to get tires/rims.

Regards,
Larry

They could have been from a Ford Industrial tractor from the 50's and 60's, or possible a Fordson Dextra. I know industrials for sure had 24", and would bolt up to the 8N hub. Check the Tractor Photos on this site to see if one of the industrials or Fordsons looks like what you have.

Ray..... ....as you should know, the 8N came from the factory with 10-28 (now re-numbered 11.2-28) ag-bar rear tires and matching 9-28 rims.

My 1952 8N has 14.9-24 Montgomery Ward ag-bar tires w/13" rims and a deep-draw center to fit over the brakedrum.

I recently learned that the rim is for a 50's Massy Harris..... ....Dell
