Howdy ,Just thought I would put my 2 cents in .I am happy as a claim ,I put my trans. back together wiht fresh bearings ,springs and seal .WOW what a difference! I was upset when I was force to change out trans. intially, but once I got it apart I found out the reason my 52 8n would jump outta gear going downhill and the pto would kick out sometimes . I had over .110 end play on the main shaft and a galled thrust washer on the reverse idiler . Now she shifts as smooth as a Swiss watch. Tomorrow I start on the hydralics :)wish me luck !

Roy,
OK, good luck. BTW, was the end play the result of a bad bearing?
