How much torque should be applied to a 7/16" NF brass exhaust manifold nut?

It musta been a 'blonde day', cause I just remembered something else I did that I know y'all would wanna comment on. Torquing down the thermostat housing, and the wrench clicks and the housings cracks at the same instant. I figure the thermostat slipped outta its little depression and got in the way. On the next try, after my new expensive housing arrives, I'm figuring on a little glue to hold the thermostat in its place. Whatta y'all say?

Ramrod..... ...my Boeing Engineers handbook lists the 7/16-20 BRASS-NUTS as 27 ft/lbs and the 7/16-14 studs as 55 ft/lbs. Always check yer studs first BEFORE you put your manifold on (prevents embarrassing leaks)..... ....Dell
