Does anyone have experience pulling with the 2n,9n,8n series?

I've pulled several Fords. Depends on your local rules, typical track prep and how much money you want to put into the motor to answer how well they do.

First gear is too fast for the stock power of the 9N/2N/8N. With an 18" or 20" drawbar and 6' or shorter chain you'll run out of power on a track with any bite. Either need an underdrive to get enough torque or build the engine. And a flathead, dry sleeve engine doesn't offer nearly the possibilities available to wet sleeve, OHV engines. Are you ready to spend several thousand dollars on your motor? Will your club rules allow it?

The club I pull with limits engines to just a little better than stock and we have a speed limit. My best success with Ns is at 2500# using a Sherman. I can win more than my share. My wife pulls a stock Jubilee, has a Sherman and now a Howard, and is good at 3000 and 3500. She wins waaay more than her share.

Your results may vary. John-COLO

Ralph, We pull my Father's '46 2N at every antique pull we can. Sometimes a problem having enough tractors a a pull for that weight class though. Ours is box stock except for 12.4-28" tires and a little governor spring help and never embarrasses us. We run the rear tires full of windshield washer fluid. Out of probably 20-25 pulls we have been beaten by the same suped up BN Farmall twice and a Farmall A when we went up a class. All the rest were firsts!!! She has pulled against TO an TE-20's, VC's, VAC's, B and BN's, AC B's and even C's, and JD H's an M and even an MT once! Pete
