what is the best way to check compression in my 1950 8n?

what should the compression reading be?

Tinker..... ...remove ALL your sparkies before you compression test so the starter don't haffta work so hard and drain the battery down. Some think you need to wide open your carb throttle.

Ford 8N compression specs: 90psi min (dry) 5 puffs or more and writter down. Add a 1oz squirt of engine oil to seal the rings and dooer'gain for a "wet" test to evaluate the condition of the rings and valves. No increase compression, burned/stuck valve open or cylinderhead gasket leak. 10-20psi increase normal engine wear. 20-40psi increase, really worn rings (or too much oil) Also engine should be warm (not hot) and check your oilpressure, 35psi normal..... ..Dell
