A while back, someone mentioned that a good solvent results from mixing kerosene and ATF. I'd like to make a bucket of it for soaking parts, what is the correct ratio to use?

What is ATF? That means automatic transmission fluid to me.

Yep, they tell me that Automatic Transmission Fluid and kerosene make a real good rust solvent. I got me a stainless steel basket from a Berryman 5 gallon solvent rig, and plan to use it in a bucket of ATF/kerosene 50/50 mix to soak old rusty parts.

About 1:1 for HD use, 2:1 kero to ATF for light. Actually best as a penetrant but soaking and then brushing with a wire brush will knock a lot of rust off too. ATF is tough on skin and eyes, use good gloves and safety goggles.
