Got my trannt freed up and I'm ready to close it up. Which way does the Sherman's input shaft mount? Looks like it could mount in 4 different ways. There is a slot in the input shaft housing through which you can see the shaft, does it mount up, down, left, or right? I'm thinking up...

I think the slot should be on the bottom. This would allow any oil that leaks past the seal to drain out before reaching the clutch and pressure plate. But I could be wrong.

Here is a picture showing what I think you are calling a slot. This is a 3 speed sherman and is sitting the way it goes in the tractor. Mark H.

What angle are we looking at in the pic? Is that a left side view?? What are you calling the slot?

The slot is on the bottom in the picture. I wonder what the slot is for? Y'all work on that, I'm gonna go mount my input shaft.

Thanks,
Ramrod

I think like said above for letting fluid out that leaks pass the seal befor it travels to the end and gets to the clutch disk and ruins it. Mark H.
