There is a little lever just behind your left foot. It is about three inches long and is held in place with a nut. Remove the nut and carefully and slowly trying to be in control of the movement of the lever while someone else rocks the tractor to relieve the tension that the shifter dog may be under. Turn the lever just enough that the transmission is disengaged from the rear end and not more. Then re secure the lever under a nut. I think the lever may have to be removed and turned over to move the coupling and then turned over again to secure. It will be obvious to you when you try it.

The thing you want to avoid is moving the lever too far and allowing the lever inside the lift housing to become dislocated from the coupling. If this happens you will have to remove the inspection plate to re secure it into the coupling.
