Just for fun!!! If you HAD to sell your 'N' tomorrow..... ..... what would you want for it?
Do this as if you were running an ad in the 'penny saver'. Thanks!

My eleven year old daughter cried when I had to tell her that someone had stolen our restored '49 8n that she used to drive around our pasture following me on my '58 641. I have replaced the stolen 8N with a 1950 model, although I still look long and hard at every red and gray tractor that I see being hauled down the highway, just in case. The restoration of the '50 8N will begin after the holidays, so it should be ready when the leaves on the elm trees are the size of squirrel's ears. There is not enough money available that would ever tempt me to disappoint that little girl. The 8N is not now, nor will it ever be, for sale. Little blonde girl with the big smile driving her father's old Ford tractor..... ...PRICELESS!

I'm bummed out to hear that someone would steal an 8N. That's why they should keep the death penalty... I wonder if the folks on this Board could help track it down.

My 8N cost me $1,500 3 years ago but I figure I've put in about $50,000 in blood sweat and tears over the past 3 years, so someone would have to have a lot of money to buy it from me.

And that is why in the GREAT State of TEXAS you can legally shoot someone stealing your car or anything -. If they die the problem of repeat offenders is automatically solved.

Good Golly-haven't thought about selling it. I bought it (1947 2 N) with a completely rebuilt engine for $2200 a year ago. Just two small spots of rust. I put new tires on it and a tune up so I'm under $3,000.00 into it,could most likely get that out but would rather sell just about anything else I have before the "N".
Reminds me of a fellow I saw who was having a yard sale last year in a trailer park. He had his old restored JD sitting in the little attached garage and his car in the drive. He said his wife died and he moved to the trailer park, got rid of everything except his JD. It had gotten him through many a year on the farm and they were going to die together right there in the trailer park.
Sometimes there just isn't enough money.

I don't think I could sell mine. It was my dads and my son and I are restoring it. It just has too much sentimental value. Its probably worth about $3500 or so.

Actually i have been thinking of selling it and have been asking myself the same question. What do you guys think. Here whats wrong with it-it burns oil, not a cloud, but enough to be noticable. About 90lb comp. each cyilinder. I bought it from a fellow who had a shop rebuilding them for 3000.00. He was supposed to have rebuilt the engine. 1949 8N looks very good, good tin and paint. I didn't know much about them at the time. Tractor has an F/T aux. trans. factory ROPS and brand new rear tires. i added the ROPS and tires, F/T was a positive side to a bad buying experience. Location is NW IL. I was hoping to get my original 3K back in light of the ROPS,tires , and F/T. Is this still too much for a smoking tractor?

My 52 w/Sherman hi/lo has only 1 decent tire, and almost everything on 3 point has been welded.
I love the old dog and wouldn't sell it for the world.

Thanks for all the posts! Lotsa fun. I noticed some sentimental value on some. I'm that way too! My 52 8-n with Howard tranny: $5200 or first offer over $500,000! LOL! Happy Holidays!

I paid $1000 for my 49 8N back in 1977. I have gotten my money's worth out of it time and time again for all the work I have done with it.

I spent about $1500 refurbishing it a few years ago. I don’t believe I could sell it for more than $3500 (if that much) in terms of market price.

So, as it stands now, it is not for sale.

Best regards to all.

I've thought about selling my NAA many times. I don't use it that much, and it takes up a lot of space (in the garage). I use it to bushhog, and push snow. I could get the neighbor to bushhog once a year, although I bushhog it 3-4 times a year. I would also have to hire someone to plow the driveway. They average 10 plows per year, at $50 each time. So it would cost me about $600/year to have the work done per year. The NAA is worth about the same today as it was when I bought it 5 years ago. Therefore the cost is maintence and fuel. I know for some guys the repair cost is high, but for me it averages $50 per year. So, there, I just talked myself into keeping it. It's not for sale!!!

H*** NO!! My Father scored it new at Farnham Motor Co, it's been here ever since! "You Can Pry The Keys Outta My Cold Dead Hands". I've put a lottta $ into it since I've had it, and it runs better than ever! Converted to 12V, and electronic ignition, starts great! (I saved the old stuff so if I want, it can be put back to original easily.) If you have a couple of hours, check out my online albums. Whole lottsa stuff there!

I actually had my "52 sold earlier this year. I was asking $3500 and took 34 after 4 days. The guy put down $100 and the week before he was going to pick it up backed out. I kept his 100 downstroke and decided to keep the tractor.

I just totaled up my 1947 2N restoration cost to be $6640.93 and I have all recipts to prove it. For all of those interested, I finally got the grill and hood and final pieces on today...talk about a nightmare to get that high quality grill, TSC side panels and 50 year old hood to fit together....man! All I need to do is charge the battery, add coolant, gas, and oil and i'll have a tractor again. However, i'm not posting pictures until I get everything done so you'll have to wait.

My '47 8N (inherited from my dad) is worth about $1,000,000 to me.

I will never sell it, but it would bring $2500 easy. I am still restoring the stuff that needs attention in the winter & working it hard in the summer. After engine rebuild & all odds & ends I will finally do the paint job.

$5k on my trailer queen 1948 8N (and I would still be loosing money), and $3k for my workhorse 1952 8N. But I would really have to be hurting for cash to do it.
