Cross-posting from Fergie site: adding a pump

Is there a slick way to tie an after-market hydraulic pump to the crankshaft of a Ferguson TEA20 so as to have live hydraulics?

I'm thinking along the lines of replacing the crank fitting with some sort of twist-in spline which could drive the pump at engine speed, but a belt and pulley might work, as well.

My dad's old Freeman loader would look a lot better with with a good pump pushing it and possibly an extra cylinder to tip the bucket.

Thanks.

Rod:

I"ve got some pics of my pump/loader front bracket for my 8N. I may have some snapshots out of the manual showing the pump & bracket installed.

Let me know if you need"em. Leave me your email address or I can post"em in "parts & pieces" gallery.

Jeff

Do a search in the parts and pieces under "front pump" and a few things will come up. Here is one nice setup.

I'm not sure which engine the TEA Ferguson has but I have developed a system for live hydraulics for the TO Fergusons with the contintenal engines. It would work on other engines no doubt if the engine configuration was the same so that the pump mounting bracket would work. I use a gear pump that is belt driven and the oil supply is taken from the sump of the original drive train/hydraulic system. With my system you have live hydraulics to the three point hitch and you can also use a front end loader or other remote hydraulics by tapping into the pressure hose for a remote control valves/s.

See the link that the other post pointed out.

Rod,
Is the Freeman a similar unit to the Ford 701 and 702 loaders? I"m thinking it is but not sure. The man you really want to talk to is Zane Sherman. Check his website for some neat stuff he has come up with then email him and ask away. He"s the most knowledgable guy on this board and real good about sharing what he knows. Do you want live hydraulics or an independent system for the loader, or both? I got a loader with a front pump driven with a stinger shaft off the front pulley on the crank. Leaves the tractor hydraulics free for whatever. The common problem is the "slick" part. The basic loaders were just that: basic. Then one had to buy a mounting kit for the particular model tractor and an adapter kit for independent hydraulics. Nowdays, the loaders are all over the place, but finding a kit for YOUR tractor can be a problem. Most guys get an idea of what it looked like and then build their own brackets. See if Zane can give you some good direction.

I don't think finding another old loader would be a problem at all. I'm very interested, however, in how you hooked up your hydraulic pump, which pump it is, and where it is located. If you have any pictures I would appreciate them.

I'm new at this but I have the ear of a retired welder with lots of knowledge. If I can pick up components on eBay or the used market I hope to put a package together for him to install.
