Had a great day at the old place. Went to my fathers house that is 40 miles away to put his cane mill on a metal platforn we had built the day before . The wooden one had surved it purpose as long as it could. Carried my tripod to lift it on a trailor. Also took the n just to see if it would lift the mill. Backed up to it, Chained it to the lift pole and up it came. Would not have believed it could do this because the lift is not very strong, I thought. Hooked up the metal platform on the pole with the mill And took both to the new home at the end of the feild. We set the platform in cement and put the mill on it with no trouble. Leveled it to his specs and now he is tickeled pink and we had a great time together doing this. That was the best part of all.

Zane, I am in Jackson, In Clarke County. The mill is set up in Silas in Choctaw County across the Tombigbee River. Jackson is about 50-55 miles north of Mobile. Been wanting to meet you for a long time. Hope to go to Anniston this spring or summer to visit my Uncle and his family. Would be an honor to meet you and your family. Later Roland (AL)

Would love to have you visit us. Take the guided tour of the "Junque". :O)

When does your daddy make his syrup? About July?

I have watched them make it and it is really an art to make it right. I probably could make syrup but nobody probably could eat it!

Just give me a call when you plan to come or Email me so I can give you my phone number.

Zane

I can only say that I will not take those times for granted anymore after moving back to be by family after 15 years being away. I was helping my dad put a new roof on his house last Saturday and was woken up at 5:00 Sunday morning by the phone telling me he was taken to the hospital with a stroke. I can't tell you the thoughts and memories that flash through your head. Thankfully in less than a week he is now home and should have a full recovery after all his rehab. So be thankfull for the time you get with each other because you never know when it'll end. Merry Christmas to all.
