how can you check a 6 volt armature to see if it is ok, i know how to check the case for a short and have done that and it is ok can someone refresh my mind? [ dam allhimers]

Bill..... ...armatures are tested with a "growler" and hacksaw blade. Growlers are an "AC magnet" with a "V" channel to lay the armature in. Most people don't have a growler in their garage. Lotta mom-pop electrical shops (yellow pages) used have them.

Otherwize, an Ohmmeter can check for opposite side commutator bar winding continuity..... ...Dell
