I have a Ford 2n, where the Battery continues to become dead after I turn it the tractor off. What can cause a battery to discharge. I bought a new batter and the same thing happened.

If your 2n has a factory six volt charging system you have a generator cut out. Will look more like a solenoid than a voltage regulator and will be on the under hood side of the dash. They function to isolate the battery when the engine is shut off and if they stick closed they will cause the symptoms you describe.

Check it with a multi meter as it should read open with the engine shut off. If it doesn't it needs replacing. New ones are reportedly frequently bad out of the box. Check the new one to make sure it reads open before you take it home. There is also an aftermarket electronic replacement that works like a voltage regulator.

Your mileage may vary

dont know whether you have a voltage regulator,or a cutout.if the points of a voltage regulator are stuck,it will drain a battery, quickly

Probably got bare wires somewhere. Bare wires somewhere touching metal.... Shorts out and drains battery.
