I'm not usually a big safety preacher but there seem to be a few newbys on the board and if I can save someone from having to change their shorts or worse it worth it. When you go out at 0 dark thirty to plow your drive start your machine with the PTO disengaged. If your blade is frozen to the ground your pressure relief valve should pop by why take a chance. I always set mine down on a couple chunks of cordwood so it will only be frozen in a small area. When you get warmed up and ready to go put the thing in REVERSE and break it loose. If the tires are frozen it will rear up on you. Know exactly where your ditches are. Once you get a coupla feet of snow piled up and it is blowing and your cold and in a hurry it's easy to misjudge your location by a couple of feet. I use grade stakes with ribbon on the to mark the safe distance. Ok off my stump now. Have fun and be careful and be sure to always complain to the wife about how miserable being on that tractor is so she don't think your just playin.

We haven't had any plowing snow yet, (touching wood) but I have the blade on and ready. Good points you made. Thanks for the reminders. Steve

Here's how it works with the wife. Ya gota complain about how wimpy the N is for plowing snow. I usually go out and plow every 1 or 2" of the stuff as it falls. If you get a foot of snow that's a good 6 to 12 trips out to have fun. The wife asked me why I was out running around the field plowing snow. Told her I was cleaning the snow off the grass for the deer. 3rd gear wide open with a sherman in high range sure is fun plowing..... The neighbors all think I'm nuts!
The wife sure thinks I work hard on that ole N! I've told her the only other choice is to buy a $10,000 real tractor. So, she feels sorry for me that I have to spend so much time on that old tractor. By the way, the story works for mowing too.

Don't forget.....don't lick your tractor when it is below 32. You could end up in a comprimising position.
