HI! I just got finished re-painting, welding sheet metal cracks and re-pairing my '51 N. I cleaned up the throttle Quardrant and now the lever slips down when traveling. I can't find the Adj in the book. could you let me know where and how to tighten it.
thanks Oregon Bob

Bob you may have thought of this already but did you check the condition of the ball that rides on the throttle plate? If it's getting flat you may need to turn it over to a round spot.

There are 2 springs on your throttle rod, the one from the bell housing over to the bottom of the shaft and another that slides up on the shaft that puts pressure on the the handle to hold it to the dash, you may not have that this spring. Donn

Oregon Bob - there is no real adjustment for your delima. The Spring that was mentioned before will help, but will not fix a throttle that is so loose it moves on the quadrant by itself. If anything, it will make it idle down by itself. The throttle arm is kept in check by tension on the quadrant. You didn't mention if it was fine before, so I will assume it was. Make sure your throttle lever is secured tightly to your throttle control bracket by your bell housing and the throttle lever, and is snugged up tight with the nut on the bottom. I am guessing it was not assembled correctly, which is easy to do. If it is, the only way I can see to fix it is to ben the throttle arm where it meets the quadrant to make a tighter tension fit, but that would be my last resort.

Good luck,
Dan

Are you sure you replaced the spring at the bottom of the throttle linkage arm? It goes from the bell housing to the arm on the shaft.
