The first plowable snow is falling today! I fired up my 52 8N sidemount all ready to make the first pass, this winter, on the driveway. The only problem is I can not turn left. This is my 3rd season with this tractor and i have never had this happen before.I noticed the 90W oil coming out from under the steering wheel. I found this strange because I know the fill hole for the steering oil is well over a foot below the steering wheel. I managed to get the tractor in the garage where I could get some heat to it. I pulled the steering box oil fill bolt out. When I did this 90W oil started comming out. It filled a dixie cup. At this point I could steer both ways again. My assumption is that water has gotten into the steering box and displaced the oil. When the cold weather came it froze and locked up the steering. When I put heat to it the ice melted and I could steer again. It just doesn't seem possible to me that that much water could get in. If I drained a dixie cup full of oil out of the fill hole, I must have that much water in there. How would that much water get in and how do I drain it. Any help would be great. I have the IT manual and am in the process of studying the steering box. I store the tractor outside. If I don't get this solved soon do you think somethig could crack in the freeze thaw cycle? Do you agree with my water theory? Thanks again. Paul
