Is there a trick to the removal of the ford 8n hood? It seems unnecessarily complex. Any ideas would be welcome.

Try this if you have somewhere to hang it from.
Easy 1 man method.

That exhaust pipe seems to be blowing out toward the front of the tractor. I guess that is alright however I prefer having it blowing out under the step plate and toward the back.

Either park under a good shade tree.....have stout rafters in your barn or garage..... or get your wife or kids to help! Drain the gas.....disconnect the lights (if you have any) BEFORE you are trying to walk away with the hood....disconnect the air cleaner.....and lets see...what else.....oh yeah....be sober! Its not that its all that heavy.....just sorta oddly balanced....and whoooooweeee....is there a lot of expensive things that can get messed up....like a radiator!!!

yep, nuttin to it. 4-dash bolts and 2-dogleg bolts and watch the grill fall out onto the ground. (oops) My 9yo son and I removed our 8N's hood in 15 minutes and walked it foward and set it down on some convient sawhorses. (tip: drain the gastank first)..... ..Dell
