Help! I am looking for a tractor for my father-in-law and his brothers. They had a Ford Ferguson when they were kids and have fond memories of that tractor. I would like to buy one for them, but I cannot figure out what Ford it was. They claim that the tractor said "Ford Ferguson" on the side of the tractor or the grill. They also think that it was bought new around 1947-1948. Are there any Ford tractors that had the words "Ford Ferguson" on the side or grill?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

Most likely it was a 9n or 2n and was a ford tractor with the fergusion system ( lift system.. 3pt.. etc. ) 1939-1941 for the 9n.. 1942-1947 for the 2n.. ( basically same tractor )

tractor badge would say ford, and another badge sad ferguson system on the front grill.

Robert
As I look at the 2 photos above... the 2N I have has the grill like the photo borrowed from ID guide, except it doesn't have the Ferguson system badge. (Does have 3-Point)
Is this correct for 2N or has it been changed? I understand the top grill is 9N?
Still learnin' in MO

A 2N should have both. Many were lost over the years (our missing one was the Ford we still have the Ferguson). Possibly the grill has been replaced or the holes for it filled in. The 2N also should have a small 2N on the bottom of the Ford badge as show in the photo.

Thanks Steve,
Looks like I need to get me an After Market badge and a set of stamps to get "correct".
The second concern was the solid center bar in the grill (2N ??) on mine (Like photo above) verses the "8N Nut" post of the split center bar (9N ??)
Am I correct to "assume" Solid Center Bar is 2N and Split Center Bar is 9N?
Kinda hard to relate in Post... Hope you get my meaning.
Charlie

Charlie, the first two grilles for the 9n were made of aluminum and had horizonal bars. The next grille was made of steel and had round vertical bars and the solid center bar.The 2ns and 8ns had the vented center and vertical tapered bars. The 9n and 2n grilles had pins at the top of the grille to hold them in place. The 8n has small latches at the top of the grille to hold it in place. The 9n and 2n grilles had the small Ferguson badge attached to them.8n grilles do not have the Ferguson badge. However, the first few 8ns had the holes for the badge because Ford used left over 2n center bars to fab the 8n grilles.Hope this clears your grille questions.Any questions, email me. don b
