Anyone have an idea what price a 16ft, dual axle, flatbed trailer with rails goes for these days? This one appears to be in fair condition, good tires, no ramps, and no brakes. I am told the GVW is 7500. I don't plan on hauling anything near that kinda weight, and will be using it mostly on the farm and a one-time 50 mile move for my N. As the name implies, I am in Oklahoma,,,,the flat part. Thanks for any help.

Thanks so much to everyone for the answers to my question. If I was to tow a large weight, it was going to be with a rental. Since I will be renting a truck, I will also rent the trailer for the N. After hearing the prices, I am more inclined than before to go the NEW route rather than used. This was the first good looking used one I have seen. The owner was towing welding equipment on it with an F150. He is out of the business now and selling off his equipment.

Try looking at WWW.andersontrailers.com I have one like the EQ7163T, has removable ramps, came with one axle electric brakes, choice of red or black with new tires. About $1150 if you shop. It tows great and is made of channel iron with a wrap around tongue.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't have a 16' tandem without brakes. Even if you are driving on flat land, if you lock up the brakes on your hauling vehicle, you are still going to have something of equal or greater weight pushing you forward. And, if you ever do get up in the mountains somewhere, you'll smoke your hauling vehicle brakes on the down side.

I'm with Ed on this one, in FACT I think he was not conservative enough! A trailer WITHOUT any type of brakes should not have a GVW rating greated than 3/4 the weight of the tow vehicle! IMHO I don't know what you have as a tow vehicle, but I'd bet it is no where close to 10,000 lbs curb weight unloaded.

I'd say that trailer you are looking at is an accident looking for a place to happen! It might be fine on a farm where you are not going to go over 10 MPH. But on a highway at 50 MPH - BEWARE!!!!

You might ought to check what the OK Dept of Motor Vehicles requires for trailers. I'd be surprised if that one would be road legal.

Saveing a couple of hundred and risking having a major law suit and loose thousands, does not sound like a good risk to me. If you buy this trailer, keep it off the road and on your farm. RENT a U-Haul auto trailer (and van to tow it if necessary) to move your N - Safely!

SAFETY FIRST!!

My $.02!

Larry

I have priced some at pawn shops for 5-6oo bucks. Give them a try ,they loan money on a lot of things you won`t necessarly think about. I am a tight wad and I always try to not pay their asking price. I love to deal a deal and make a counter offer. They do like cash. homeboy

I have been looking for something like that for over a year. I keep thinking a used one should sell for around $800 but so far everyone wants $1200. There is a dealer north of here that will build a new one, no frills for $1200 so I have a hard time paying that for a used one. Good luck.

I bought a new one last summer just like what you described, plus it has brakes. $950 just east of St. Joseph, MO.
