The yoke's on me...

I've worked my way to the back end of the NAA, and I'm trying to remove the upper link connecting yoke from the hyd unit. It's bent and needsto be straightend a bit...

1. Will it stand up to heating and beating to straighten the bent side which is flared out slightly?

2. I have a long, hinged all-the-way-thru pin that finally came out of said assembly. Book shows two short pins with cotters. Is this an upgrade or what?

3. The yoke is still firmly attached with a bushing or hollow pin that book shows to have two cotters. Mine doesn't due to long thru pin. Won't come out, gonna get my torch out if y'all don't see a problem.

Does this all sound correct for the NAA?

It's good to know that I have a 'special pin', cause it was really stuck, I did manage to get it apart today, but it took my rosebud and a lot of heat. Now I'm on the the engine, trying to get the fire from my new ss ignition system, but that's another story.

That long, hinged pin you speak of was used on a number of implements for the Ferguson TE/TO"s, not sure about the Ford"s. I"ve seen a couple of them go on E-bay the last couple of months for over $30 each. I want one pretty bad, but I think I"ll keep lookin".

I"m currently planning to use a 3/4"x10" cap screw "til I can find the real deal. I"m working on my version of a Ferguson auto-hitch which requires use of the the long pin.

Mine was mushroomed. i had to use a die grinder to carefully trim it down flush, and then used a propane hand torch, PB oil, WAX and lots of tapping with a copper mallet and brass drift. I used a 4# mini-maul as a 'backup' to some of the areas I was hammering on. After a few heat/cool and oil / wax cycles, pin started to move.. and once it moved, it started moving easier. I actually heated it, and then quenched it with the pb oil.. seemed to suck it in better. Same with the wax.

Took about 30 minutes of messing with it.

I tried to go carefull, and didn't do any 'mighty' blows to it.. just tapping, and then good 'medium' whacks. Pin was useless after removal, and so was replaced, with another serviceable one from a box of parts I had from junkyard scavenging.
