I just replaced the manifold gaskets on my 9n.Do I need to tighten the nuts again after I run it for a short time? I torqued them at 27 ft/lbs when I put them on.Have not run it since the repair. Waiting for a reply from you all.Thanks.

Heres the Instructions that go out with every new manifold I sell. When you remove your old manifold the nut and stud may come out together. If this happens you will loose some engine coolant, so be ready to catch it or drain the radiator. If this happens install some sealer on the stud prior to instillation. I like to put some permatex ultra high temp. RTV (red) on both sides of the gasket. Torque the manifold nuts to 24-27 Ft. lbs. After 30 mins. Retorque the nuts. The new exhaust clamp goes on one way and I have marked Up to go Up or Big Side Down. DO NOT over tighten the manifold clamp bolts, the clamp will break. Just have them snug. You can put some RTV there but it makes a mess.

The N manifolds, in my opinion, were designed about two bolts short of satisfactory. Another bolt on each end would have saved many a block and manifold over the years. But Henry was a tightwad, so we've got what we've got. And for that reason, I ALWAYS retorque the manifold bolts a couple times after it has gone through a few heat and cool cycles. They always seem to pull down a bit more the first time or two. Cheap insurance and piece of mind.

I never have - but if it makes you feel better, it can never hurt.

Good luck,
Dan
