just thinking about my next project...

The ball ends on both of my brake shafts are eroded away, one end much worse than the other, due to rust and wear. It also looks like there are no bushings in the NAA for this shaft, but there is on later models. Will the later model bushings work on the NAA? Can I weld some material on and grind these balls back into rough shape with some success, of should I go looking for good brake shafts? They will still work as is, but I'm sure they will have some slack and wobble, which will cause worse problems down the road.

I welded one up on my 48 8N, then ground it down into a ball shape. Works ok, but I am sure it will wear the new bushing down faster than normal.

Might want to check with John Smith.

Good luck,
Dan
