Front mount 8N, M-S carb...I had flow from gas line but no flow from bottom of carb...as recommended here previously, I removed and inspected elbow screen...all clean...removed carb and had a look...appears that needle valve on top of float "sticks", i.e. won't fall when float falls...sometimes falls with sharp rap,but mostly does not, even after cleaning...see that you can order a new needle valve and its gasket for 3$...is my problem as simple as that? is it harder than it appears to do this replacement?? should I do other stuff to the car while it is apart??? Thanks for sharing your expereince...Rusty

I'd put a complete kit in it when you have it apart. The kit will also have the needle seat in it

Yep, it really is that simple. The newer neoprene needle tips are much more prone to sticking. Use a chisle or a thick gasket scraper to remove the brass needle seat, you want to ensure you go through both slots fully, or you will just strip the slot - and then it will be a dog to remove. Do a full rebuild while you are in there. I would just check my jets and try to get them clean rather than replacement, because they usually get torn up when you try to remove them.

Good luck,
Dan
