I could maybe read the manuals, but you guys are the final authorities...

How do I put the final tweek on my newly rebuilt carb, now that the Old Warrior is running so fine?

Ramrod..... ...all carbs adjust the sameway ...MAX rpms... at idle. (slightly different rules for smog carbs) That goes for the lawnmower 1-lunger to the 12 cyl Ferrari with Webers. Marvel/Schebler is somewhat unique, in that it also has a variable mainjet, while most other carbs have a fixxed mainjet.

The Ford Manual sez: adjust BOTH the down-pointing mainjet to 1-turn, and the side-pointing idlemixture to 1-turn. I usually adjust the down-pointing mainjet to 1-1/2 turns and LEAVITT!!!

I then adjust the side-pointing idlemixture for max rpms, NOT SMOOTHEST rpms, MAX rpms. Understand? Keep adjusting the behind the carb Idle speed set for less than 500 rpms and keep tweeking the side-pointing idlemixture for MAX rpms. OK? Doo-itt 3-times, aiming for close to 400 rpms idle as you can gitt.

Now GOOSE'ER by hand, pulling the throttle to govenor rod... Should accelerate without hessitation and the governor should fight you.

Remember the M/S side-pointing idlemixture is BASSAKWARDS. Out for lean, IN for INRICH. My idle mixture usually ends up about 3/8's turn..... ...Dell
