Hello all,
Just rebuilt my carb for 1950 8n. included in the rebuild was a new needle seat and float. Put it all back together and on the tractor. No gas getting into the carb. So, I pulled off the gas line, blew into the carb through the metal pipe going into it and no air coming through. Figured something stuck. opened the carb all up and kept taking things out one by one until i could blow air through. Turns out the needle float was stuck and blocking the little hole at the bottom of the seat. The new one looks to be made of brass. the old one is chrome. I put the old one back in and seems fine. Anyone else have this problem?

thanks,
Rich

Yea, I have the exact same problems. Mine often gets stuck and allows a continuous drip of gas.

In addition to sticking, I've read more than one post here about the plastic tips wearing out & causing problems. I'd put the old needle valve back or find just a new one & seat.

Lotsa folks have troubles with the new style brass and rubber tipped float sticking. Usually a rap on the bowl with a screwdriver handle will free it up and it'll work fine. I just rebuilt mine and have had no trouble at all with it, but I rapped it just to be sure.
