I did a 2n 2years ago with mostly paper shims. No leaks to date, works fine. I just did my 48, used all the metal except for 1 that was bent too much that I replaced with 1 or 2 paper till I got the clearence right. Worked fine also. Used RTV Blue silicon on both tractors, no leaks, brakes are a nice option!

Roy,
The Master Parts Catalog does not list a P/N 9N 4130. It does list P/N 8N 4229D, E and F for .010", .017" and .022" shims. Last ones I saw were metal. As far a pointers and time savers, John has it pretty well down to basics. I saved so much time the first time I had mine apart, I had (time) to do it again. 8 ^ )

I had my new hubs for a year before I got around toit.
It's not as bad as it seems, just kept adding shims & adding shims till the other wheel started to reverse.
It's GREAT to have brakes!!!!(for the first time)

Oh yeah....paper is fine & less leaks.
I did reuse my 1 metal inbetween paper shims.
Coat all sides with LIGHT coat of selant of your choice, I used Blue Permatex.
