Hey, Roland Jackson, you posted a picture of a slick add-on pump for an old gray tractor. I need one of them for a Ferguson TEA 2085. My mechanic is all motivated and wants a prefab kit to cut down on installation hours. Any suggestions?

I want live hydraulics for the loader on the Ferguson. The rest of the work my MF 35 can do.

(He says the regular hydraulic system is toast on the old tractor. $1600 in parts to fix it, plus three days of labour.)

The Live Thang gives the 8N or the older tractors with the Ferguson System the ablilty to raise the three point hitch without the PTO having to be engaged or turning. The lift will operate about the same speed coming up as it would with the PTO turning and with the PTO turning it still comes up about the same as the control valve does not have to be moved as deep when both pumps are supplying oil to the lift.

You can operate the loader off the Live Thang system pump but you can't operate the three point hitch off the loader pump.

The same system can be used to supply oil to the power steering but the steering would have to be designed as the primary of the oil supply so that it would always be available. This would mean that the lift or the loader could not be operated as long as the steering was calling on for all the pump output.

Yikes.. 1600$ in parts for the lift system? Sounds like he just don't want to fix it.. pretty much just the pump and top cover.. you could probably find an entire rear half of a tractor for that.. or even another tractor..
