Brake job questions

I am going to replace the pads and shoes on my 9N. This is my first time attempting a brake job on my own. Do I need to have the rotors turned or can I just put the new shoes/pads on?

My right brake has alot of oil around it. Is this from the axle seal? Should I rplace that too while I have it apart?

Lastly, I found a set of pads/shoes for $ 53 at he site below. In all the catalogs they are $75 or so. Am I getting what I pay for thru valu-rite? I would rather spend teh $$ and do it right if these are cheap junk.

Thanks.

As a first timer last winter, it not hard to do but parts can be heavy. The FO4 manual will help. I also got the master parts catalog, good exploded diagrams. As to quality, I say its your call. I got shoes that were pre riveted. I got the sping kit, just because. Don't worry about the rotors.

The right brake/oil is your seal. This seal is on the outside of the bearing retainer. If your bearings/hub don't move, you could go w/just a sure seal. If you go w/a S.S., get an injector needle for your grease gun and really pack everything. b/4 you install the S.S. Sure seal installation is well covered in the archives. If you decide to replace the original seal, JMHO, get new parts for eveything inside the bearing retainer. Other things "while your there"...
Do your lower pins move?
Have lots of sludge in the bottom of the galleys?
Your 3pt work well? Don't forget....
The archives have tons of info.
The only dumb question is the one you don't ask. Good luck, have fun....don t. ...

First.. no rotors.. just drums. Usually you don't have to machine them unless they are supremely gouged.

If you see oil.. don't bother with the brakes till you get the axle seals repalced. On some 9n/2n units.. people go back in with a product called sure seals.. it pretty much makes the rear hub bearing grease instead of oil.. your choice.
