Did a total rebuild on my 8N engine. Had the block acid cleaned, new bearings, sleeves, pistons, valves, guides, head milled, etc. How many hours should I expect to get out of this motor now? I'm not working it hard. Thanks

robert1. As jimino- --- said, it depends on a lot of things. We overhauled a 9N about 27 years ago and it's still running very good. We don't put a lot of hours on it each year, but it is run probably every month of the year and really run hard in the winter plowing snow. If everything was done right there is no reason why yours shouldn't last as long if you take care of it. Ron

Depends on a number of things: quality of parts used to rebuild; quality of rebuild workmanship; assembly lube used; break in of motor;etc, ect.

If all the above and more are top-notch, you may pass that motor, still running, to another generation. Inactivity is as bad for an engine as abuse, so don't be afraid to put some hours on it. Check it like you would a sick child for the first 50 or so hours of use. Look for leaks, stains; listen for odd, or unfriendly noises. At the first sign of something not right, STOP and correct it. This in itself can save a major problem that started as a minor one neglected long enough.

Good luck, and lots of mowed grass to you.
