I start her up. Warm her up. Take her down the driveway a few swipes, then she just kind of fizzles out. Stays idleing for a while but then dies. I let her sit for 10 minutes, then the same thing happens again. New plugs last year, change oil, cleaned carb last year. Any advice is greatly appreciated as it is only January.

PF..... ...there are 4 common runtime frontmount engine problems.

1) runs for about 1 minute and quits. BAD condensor; not your stated problem
2) runs for about 5 minutes and quits. CLOGGED fuel filters; not yer stated problems
3) runs for about 1 hr and quits; restarts the next morning; BAD squarecan ignition coil; not your stated problem
4) runs for about 15 mins and quits; restarts after about 30 mins; sound like yer problem? BAD IGNITION SWITCH GUTTZ you doubt? take a jumper wire with alligator clippies and jump yer ignition switch at yer "T" terminalboard underneath yer ammeter. Unfortunately, N-Ignition switches are not as robust as we'd like'm to be. ..... ....Dell

Hey Dell, you are on the bad switch deal, had to change mine twice. You didn't say if you ever had to change your switch and since I flunked mindreading just ask my wife of 35 years I don't know if you found a switch better and stronger than oem ?

Mel..... ...Tim is right. I replaced my ignition switch 3-times in one summer. Last time I used a 25A marine grade waterproof toggle switch. Who needs a key, eh? (which BTW, the same ignition key fits ALL Ford tractor ignition locks, some security eh?)..... ...Dell

Yes, but back to my tractor in reply to Dell (WA), 01-18-2005 06:21:06
You really mean that an ignition switch can work, then not work, then work again?
If your sure of this. I'll change the toggle switch that's on there now.
Thanks for your help.
