Cold Oil Pressure

I have always had great oil pressure on my 841 Powermaster...30-40 psi when hot or cold....

I woke up this morning to plow the driveway, started up the tractor, and found NO oil pressure...0 psi. It has been pretty cold the last few days here in New York, below zero.

Do you think I have lost prime on the pump, or is it just that the oil is as thick as molasses?

I had a similar problem with my 860, the oil pressure was fine until the oil was in for about a month or so then all of a sudden, no oil pressure, change the oil and all was OK for another month, rebuilt the oil pump and no more problems

When was the oil last changed? Any signs of water in oil? What viscosity oil? If you have significant water (ice) in oil or high viscosity oil, starting at that temperature could twist off the oil pump shaft.

Might want to pre-heat before starting in such cold. HTH John,PA
