I just bought a 1941 9N that needs a lot of work and has not run for a few years. The wiring harness is shot. It looks like it was updated with a 8N generator and voltage regulator. Would it be better to go back with a 9N generator and cutout? Can you still buy the original type generator and mounting hardware?
Not looking for a show tracor just somthing that will hopefully be dependable. Any comments would be appreciated.

Paul..... ...the 3-terminal 8N genny and squarecan voltage regulator is much more desireable than the 1-terminal 3rd brush 9N genny and 2-terminal roundcan cut-out relay. Infact, Ford offered the early 8N electrical system as an "upgrade" for 9N/2N tractors. Gitta early 8N wiring harness $12, cheap..... ....Dell
