I have a 51 8N that was running on thursday and we got about 8" of snow and the temp dropped so I figured the old girl was going to be tough to start but I'm confused. It started to crank a few times and then nothing no clicking nothing. Here are the specs. 6 volt system new cap, rotor, coil, points, condensor, ignition switch, push button, celonoid(sp?), ingition switch , voltage regulator, and wiring. I have checked all connections to make sure tight and shiny but I am at alost and need any help I can get.

Try a jumper from the batery directly to the starter. If that works I would suspect that the starter button is not providing a complete circuit. The other thing can still be a battery cable connection. Try them again.

Zig,
What BSer, I mean Barnstormer, said and... If you have lights, turn them on an hit the starter button. If the lights go out, it indicates a puny battery. (Pologies in advance Barnstormer 8 ^ ) )

No offense taken. Good chuckle.
