It is time to start thinking about installing the new sheet metal on the Old Warrior. I have a new kit, all the pieces. What is the correct/best way to install this stuff? Assemble and install one piece, or piecemeal? Paint before or after install?

Thanks,
Ramrod

I painted each individual part so that all the seams, nooks, and crannies received their fair share of paint. I then assembled the entire assembly less the hinged lid and carefully attached bottoms of the doglegs to frame with the panel end tied up from the ceiling. The whole assy will hinge back as you let it down from the ceiling. Another able body is quite helpfull but not absolutely necessary. Once attached to the gage panel the hinged lid can be fitted and adjusted. Touch up any damage and fasteners with a fine bristle brush. I'm sure there is a better way, but I was happy with the results. Good luck.

I put all my back together this way. The side pieces to the hood and doglegs, nosecone and bottom first, installed that and then set in the dash and bolted it up and then installed the hood itself and then finally the grill. I guess you could do it with more pieces together, but I did not have any help so needed to keep the pieces as light as possible.

What did you do with the old sheet metal? I am in need of the left side dog leg...

It's not NAA sheet metal, 600 I think. I'll compare to my new doglegs and let you know, but I'm sure they're way too short.
