I have been reading the posts about filling tires with fluids. Where can I get the calcium cloride to fill my tires? Is it recommended to fill the front tires? I have a 1953 Jubilee. Thanks

RIP..... ..the ONLY reason to use Calcium Chloride (CaCl) is "it is cheap". It eats iron and leaves lace. And while automobile anti-freeze is cheap, it sweetness is POISION to dogs. (who love the taste) RV toilet anti-freeze is non-poisionous and gallonjugs of windshield washerfluid is cheap ...but... even better is "Rim-Guard" made from sugarbeet pulp. It doesn't freeze and is even heavier than CaCl. Contact yer local ag-tire dealer for Rim-Guard. Fill yer tires about 80% full (23 gals for 10/11.2-28 tires)..... ...Dell

What are the pros and cons of putting fluid in the tires? More use of gas and more tire rutting from mowing come to mind as cons. Not sure of the pros, maybe better traction???

I am thinking that filled tires on a tractor would make it harder to turn over. Yes? No? Also what would frozen water in your tires do except made it un-useable while frozen. Comments please.

You answered your question...frozen. Two things: the tire is not solid water and will be seriously out of balance AND water expands when it freezes. How anxious are you to buy new tires and rims?

John..... ....you've gottitt, more traction from adding weight. Weight in the tires does not stress the chassis or bearings or overload the tires. It "locks" the ag-bar tires tighter into the soil for more pulling traction. Only necessary iff'n yer plowing. Not necessary for regular driving across pasture brushhoggin..... ....Dell

Some folks use RV anti-freeze; not as corrosive if you get a leak.

Farm and home supplys should have the Cal. and no you don't fill the fronts unless you are going to do some real heavy lifting with the 3 point.

Calcium Choride is not a problem as long as it stays where it is suppose to be, inside the tube. But most of the old Ford rims I get into must be replaced because sometime Calcium got on them and they rusted beyond use. I would avoid engine antifreeze from experience, I have seen it eat the rubber of a tire away. I once saw a man fill tires with pure water in the spring and drain it in the fall. Sure would hate to forget though.

I use methanol in my tires, because calcium will rust and ruin your rims if you have a flat or a leak. I purchased the methanol at co-op for $2.65 gal. It will take 9 gal. per tire for 11.2-28. They sell it in bulk so you will have to take your own containers.
