All the snow is cleared arond the drive and barn. Thought I would take a drive out back. I was lighting up a cigar and got too close to a ditch and put the tractor with 7' blad right in there good. Tried to drive out, but it was bad. Even disconnected the blade, no better.

Called up my neighbor the dairy farmer...he laughed about my old Ford getting stuck.

He sent down a huge green and yellow tractor that had 4 wheel drive and a huge FEL. Pulled me right out and picked up the back blade too. Went back to the barn and put the blade back on.

Happy to be unstuck...but by a JD...oh well, keeps me humble.

Sal

Sal,
At least ya didn"t put it in the ditch upside down. Good thing it was snowing too hard to see what color that other tractor was.

What is to laugh about? That much power and traction should be easy. It is when an N pulls a big JD or other brand out is fun. Typically, unless you have supper power and traction, nothing will dead pull a stuck machine. But, if a driver stops spinning the wheels and doesn't bury a machine, an N can sure be a godsend.

I have had the pleasure of pulling a 4/W drive JD with 20' bat-wing attached, out of a ditch with my NAA. Was returning a favor as he had pulled me back to the shed when I stripped a hub on an axle while bush-hogging on a VERY steep hill.

I got my farmall 666 stuck the other day, with a 1900 pound bale on the loader, going downhill. Broke thru the crust and buried it in 3 feet of hard packed snow. Once I got the bale off, the wife was able to pull me out with the 2N. The 666 would still move 3 or 4 feet, just couldn't climb out of the hole in reverse, or move the bale any further.
