On my Jubilee"s power take-off there is an adapter of some sort that fits over the take- off shaft and has a grease fitting on it. Any ideas why it is on there? I just connect my powered implements to it. Works just fine but what is it? Anyways I"m just waiting for spring!

The photo that "Ken N Tex" sent says it all. The photo on the right side is what I have. Mystery solved! I have been wondering what that thing was for about 10 years now! OH well, I guess all I had to do was ask! My 860 has "live hydraulics" so I guess that I dont need one for that. Right? Thanks

Your 860 has both live hydraulics and live PTO. Your NAA has live hydraulics but not live PTO. The ORC is needed to allow the bush hog to free wheel when a tractor without live PTO is declutched.

Be sure to grease the ORC once in a while if you want it to continue to function.

Humm? Ok,I use my brush hog alot and maybe that is why I never noticed any troubles. Isnt this "ORC" made and used on "N" series not "NAA"s".

Yes but NAAs, like Ns, do not have live PTO. ORCs are useful on all tractors without live PTO.

Sounds Like A override clutch to me I put one on my 51 8N because I was told that a bushhog would continue to push the tractor after I tried to stop. Hope this helps and I'm with you about spring.

Sounds like an overrunning coupler (ORC).
It keeps your brush hog from pushing your tractor forward when you are trying to slow down.

Roger.

It's an over-running clutch (ORC). It's a ratchet-like device that prevents the inertia energy of a large implement like a bush-hog from powering the tractor when you push the clutch in. It's best explained by not having one & seeing the results!

Amen on the ORC! I ran my '52 8N with a 5 ft. bush hog for one day and one day only without an ORC. Without the ORC, you cannot stop the tractor unless you plan ahead and that's usually gonna be too late. With the ORC, you can stop it on a dime. GA Jim
